Estimates, not advice
Every calculator on honestcalculator.com produces an estimate from the inputs you provide and the formula shown on the page. An estimate is a useful starting point. It is not:
- Financial advice. We don't know your income, assets, debts, risk tolerance, goals, dependents, or plans. A calculator can't replace a qualified financial advisor who does.
- Tax advice. US tax rules vary by federal, state, and sometimes local jurisdiction. They change year to year. They interact in ways a single-purpose calculator cannot account for.
- Legal advice. When a calculator touches something legally significant (estate planning, contracts, licensing, compliance), the number is just a number — the decision should come from a licensed attorney.
- A guarantee. Future outcomes depend on variables no calculator can see: interest rates, market returns, regulatory change, lender discretion, your personal circumstances.
Verify before you act
Before making any decision with real financial consequences, verify the calculator's output against:
- The current IRS guidance, or your state's revenue department, for anything tax-related
- Your actual lender's quote for anything loan-related
- A licensed CPA, CFP, or attorney for anything consequential
If a number from this site and a number from a qualified professional disagree, trust the professional.
How we try to get the math right
Every calculator's formula is:
- Written as a pure function, unit-tested against hand-computed reference cases before shipping
- Shown on the calculator's page, so you can verify our math against a primary source (IRS publication, Investopedia derivation, a textbook)
- Dated at the bottom of every page so you can see when it was last reviewed
If you find a disagreement between the calculator and an authoritative source, please email contact@teodorlutoiu.com with the URL, your inputs, and the reference. We'll verify and patch.

Summary
honestcalculator gives you transparent math, not a decision. Use it as one input among several. Talk to a pro before making a move that matters.
