Every calculator on honestcalculator.com produces an estimate from the inputs you provide and the formula shown on the page. An estimate is a useful starting point. It is not:

How we try to get the math right

Every calculator's formula is:

• Written as a pure function, unit-tested against hand-computed reference cases before shipping
• Shown on the calculator's page, so you can verify our math against a primary source (IRS publication, Investopedia derivation, a textbook)
• Dated at the bottom of every page so you can see when it was last reviewed
